Day 3!

So last night I was just entirely dead and went to bed well before midnight. Therefore my day three post did not get done. so you get two today :)

A brief overview of yesterday:
-epically failed my EDU quiz
-worked a ridiculous shift dealing with rambunctious kids and Halloween costumes.
-Hit 35 weeks :) 5 to go!

So here's day 3: Something you have to forgive yourself for.

This question is an emotional one for me to answer. Some people may find it ridiculous that I still need to forgive myself for something that happened over six years ago. The day after my thirteenth birthday, I moved out of my parents house in TX and all the way to California. My parents were going through a divorce and I left because I could not stand the fighting! Reflecting back, I'm pretty sure that I was just angry that they fought on my birthday. I was so young and did not realize how leaving would tear my mom apart. About a week after I left my mom called me and begged me to come home. I told her no but I would come back in early July. I could tell how upset this made her but she accepted my decision. My mother always respected my decisions, that was one of the wonderful things about her. She was always the perfect balance of parent and best friend. My mother and I talked everyday I was in California. We made plans to redecorate our house, go to the beach, and other random little things that all seem irrelevant now. My mother died in a house fire on June 14. I know that if I had been there, I wouldn't have been able to stop it and may have been hurt myself. What I really have to forgive myself for is hurting my mother when I left. I honestly can't say that I ever will. My impulsive decision to leave cost me the last 2 months that I could have spent with her. Over the years, this situation has become easier for me to deal with and talk about. I pray that one day I can forgive myself for leaving.

This year, with the birth of my son rapidly approaching, missing my mother has been harder than ever. I only hope that I can be as great of a mother as she was.

Day 2!

Well today has been rather uninteresting! So today, I will simply post my 30 days of truth day number two:

Something you love about yourself...

Honestly, I find writing about something I love about myself much harder than writing about something I hate about myself. That fact scares me a bit. I have been pondering this question on and of throughout the day and have come to the conclusion that what I love most about myself is my creativity. I love being crafty (hopefully I'll blog about it one day lol). Honestly, through everything I've experienced in my life, being creative has always been a way for me to relax. Having Declan on the way has only intensified this (baby stuff is just so darn cute!). My projects are the only area of my life in which I have no fears. If a project comes out great, I'm happy. If not, I can learn what to do better and try again. I think another reason I really love my creativity is that I don't do it to please anyone else. I do it because I completely enjoy it.

I also love that my husband financially supports my creativity, I'm sure the people at Hobby Lobby appreciate him to ;)

30 Days of Truth: Let's give it a go. (day 1)

My ever so lovely best friend turned me on to this idea today when reading her cousin's blog.
Not only do I think it is a wonderful way to reflect on different things that we don't necessarily think of every day, I think it is a wonderful little project to kick off this new blog.

Day 1: Something you hate about yourself.

I could go on and on with a list of physical attributes that I'm not particularly fond of but fortunately, I do not hate the way I look. The thing that I absolutely hate about myself is how much I care about people sometimes. This can be a great quality to have, but i know that more times than not I let people walk all over me and I hate it. I care way more about other people's feelings and comfort than my own and can definitely think of many times that my compassion is taken advantage of. Sometimes I wish I could be the cold bitch who just said no to everything. Unfortunately, my personality prohibits it and in the end I am the one who feels like crap because I went above and beyond for someone and often don't even get a thank you. Perhaps, one day I'll grow some balls, but for now I'm stuck with this.

I guess in comparison to what some others may hate about themselves, my issue is insignificant. I guess that means I'm not doing to bad, right?
